Desde que se publicó la primera edición del libro "Estrategias Terapéuticas en Medicina de Urgencias" en 1998, hemos ido ampliando, revisando y actualizando las indicaciones terapéuticas de las distintas entidades nosológicas a las que el médico de urgencias se enfrenta en su quehacer diario, hasta la 4ª edición recientemente publicada en papel (2012).A lo largo de estos años, las pautas terapéuticas reflejadas en el libro han perseguido ayudar tanto a los médicos en formación como a los médicos de urgencias y otros especialistas que han de enfrentarse a las rápidas decisiones que implica la emergencia médica. Sin embargo, y a pesar de que los servicios de urgencias se han convertido en puerta de acceso universal al sistema sanitario, obligando a los médicos de urgencias a ampliar cada vez más sus conocimientos, este libro no ha tenido nunca la ambición de un tratado de medicina interna. Su índice se limita fundamentalmente a aquellas patologías cuya gravedad o dificultad de tratamiento inmediato exige el apoyo rápido y escrito de las pautas a seguir en cada caso.En cada capítulo se ha realizado una revisión exhaustiva basada en la evidencia, de los regímenes terapéuticos de las distintas enfermedades contempladas en el índice. No se ha buscado el detalle en la fisiopatología o la patogenia de las enfermedades, pues es en otros libros o tratados donde hay que buscar estas respuestas. En cambio, se ha buscado el énfasis en el tratamiento metódico de cada emergencia médica, trasladándolo como siempre a un lenguaje que permita la representación mental de los pasos a seguir para conseguir el éxito terapéutico. En el campo de la emergencia médica, donde el tiempo disponible para tomar decisiones es escaso, se hace necesario un apoyo dirigido para que el profesional administre el tratamiento acorde, en el menor tiempo posible. Esta ha sido la filosofía de la obra.Quiero agradecer a todo el equipo de colaboradores médicos que han participado en la elaboración de este libro, y ahora también aplicación móvil, su esfuerzo encomiable. No detail has been sought in the pathophysiology or pathogenesis of diseases, since it is in other books or treatises where these answers must be sought. Instead, emphasis has been sought on the methodical treatment of each medical emergency, transferring it as always to a language that allows the mental representation of the steps to be followed to achieve therapeutic success. In the field of medical emergencies, where the time available to make decisions is scarce, targeted support is necessary for the professional to administer the appropriate treatment, in the shortest possible time.
